Indonesia Olympic Commitee - Floorball

Floorball is very similar to hockey. The sport was originated from the USA, where it started in the 1960s and the present form of floorball was invented in Sweden in the 1970s. Each team has five field players and a goalkeeper. The stick resembles an ice hockey stick and the ball is perforated ball made of plastic. The goalkeeper does not have a stick. He/she is the only eligible player to catch and throw the ball but must not handle the ball outside his/her own goal area. Floorball was played at the 2013 Southeast Asian Games at Myanmar as a demonstration sport and became official medal sport two years later in Singapore.
