Information

Shooting was among the original sports in the 1896 Olympic Games in Athens. From five events initially, the sport has grown steadily to 15 events comprising of three disciplines - rifle, pistol and shotgun. It was an open event until the 1984 Games at Los Angeles where women-only events were introduced. The rifle and pistol competitions are held on shooting range, where marksmen aim at targets at distances of 10, 25 and 50 meters, In the shotgun event, competitors shoot at clay targets propelled at a series of different directions and angles.
