In the team kata, Indonesian men's team of Albiadi, Andi Dharmawan, and Andi Tomy Aditya Mardana had to settle for the bronze medal. Ari Saputra also took the bronze medal, in the 55kg kumite event.

In the women's event, Indonesia could not overcome Japan - as the defending champs defeated Indonesia in two events. In the women's team kata, Emilia Sri Hanandyta, Anugerah Nurul Lucky, and Dian Monika Nababan lost to Saori Ishibashi, Sae Taira, and Misaki Yabumoto. While in the individual kata, Krisda Aprilia lost to Hikaru Ono. Cok Istri Agung Sanistyarani won the bronze medal in the 55kg kumite event.
