Indonesian Olympic News Update 25 Jul 2021
TOKYO (25/07/21) - M. Hadris, coach of the national rowing team, appreciates Melani Putri/Mutiara Rahma Putri’s effort despite the fierce competition at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Hadris believes that Melani and Mutiara perform to the best of their ability.
“The competition is fierce. They [Melani/Mutiara] tried their best to finish in the top 3, so they can make it to the Final B. But they finish in sixth hence they will be competing in Final C for the 13th-18th place classification,” said Hadris to NOC Indonesia’s media team.
In the repechage session, Melani/Mutiara finishes in sixth with a time of 8:03.19.
“We tried our best. The wind was pretty strong in the last 1.000 meters. So it affects the race. The Olympics is a valuable experience. We will try to be better in the future,” said Melani after the race.
“I will motivate them to go all out for the Final C. Hopefully, they can finish in the top 16,” said Hadris.
Melani and Mutiara will compete in the final C of Women’s Lightweight Doubles Sculls on Tuesday (27/7).
