NOC Indonesia News Update   27 Sep 2021

In conjunction with the Indonesia Heart Foundation, the Indonesian Olympic Committee celebrates World Heart Day on Sept. 29 by promoting the Olympic Values.

The Committee welcomed the initiative from the Indonesia Heart Foundation to organize the HeartSport campaign as both organizations shared the same value - sport as a medium to get a healthy heart and nurture Olympic Values - as Executive Committee member Ismail Ning said.

"NOCs are among three pillars along with IOC dan IFs who have responsibilities to promote the Olympic Movement and Olympic values, excellence, friendship, and respect. We think the values are in line with the Indonesian Heart Foundation's healthy heart campaign. That's why we join the campaign," said Ismail on Monday.

The campaign asks people to participate by taking their pictures during workouts and upload the images on their Instagram using USEHEART sticker or twibbon.

Head of sports development committee Calvin Legawa encouraged people to participate in the campaign, slated on Sept. 29 to Oct. 31, 2021.

"We're hoping more Indonesian people have an awareness to do workouts so they can understand the Olympic values while also have a healthy heart and body," Calvin said.

Chairwoman of the Indonesian Heart Foundation Esti Nurjadin said Heart to Connect became the global campaign of the 2021 world heart day because nowadays, people have used technology to do workouts and monitor their health.
"Technological advances should make us easier to get information regarding healthcare by undergoing virtual consultation with doctors or health workers. The smart devices also make us easier to monitor our physical health or to do workouts," said Esti.
